Dorchester firearm arrest: teen charged after loaded gun recovered at Harambe Park
BOSTON, MA – A late-night patrol in Dorchester led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Braintree woman after officers say she fled from a group gathered in a closed park while holding a loaded handgun early Saturday morning. The incident unfolded near 930 Blue Hill Avenue, where officers assigned to District B-3 encountered a cluster of individuals inside Harambee Park well past posted closing hours.
Officers reported that the park had closed at 11:30 PM, with signage clearly posted, when they observed the group gathered inside around 12:52 AM. According to the report, several mopeds within the park were operating without registration plates, drawing attention from patrol units monitoring the area.

As officers approached, they observed what they described as unsafe behavior among moped riders. “Officers observed several mopeds operating without registration plates,” the report states. “As officers approached the group, they observed several moped operators driving recklessly with many of the operators not wearing helmets, creating a significant public safety hazard.”
Police say multiple individuals began to flee as officers moved in. During the attempted stop of several mopeds, officers reported seeing a female suspect running while holding a firearm. “While attempting to stop some of the mopeds, officers observed the female suspect running from the group with a handgun in her right hand,” according to the report.
Officers issued repeated commands for the suspect to stop and drop the weapon, but those orders were not followed. “Officers repeatedly issued loud verbal commands for the suspect to stop and drop the firearm, which she ignored,” the report states. The suspect allegedly discarded the firearm moments before being taken into custody.
