Vineland man accused of stabbing father then hiding evidence
BRIDGETON, NJ — A Vineland man has been charged with killing his father after police investigating reports of a foul odor discovered the victim’s body inside a Bridgeton home, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.
Bridgeton police responded at approximately 12:15 p.m. Sunday, July 19, to the 100 block of Fayette Street after receiving a complaint about a bad odor coming from a residence.
Officers entered the home and found the body of 67-year-old Anthony Williams in a state of decomposition, prosecutors said.
During the investigation, detectives identified the victim’s son, 28-year-old Antoine W. Williams of Vineland, as the suspect.
Prosecutors allege Antoine Williams stabbed his father on or about July 15 before attempting to conceal the crime by tampering with evidence.
Williams has been charged with first-degree purposeful homicide, first-degree knowing homicide, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and fourth-degree tampering with evidence.
The investigation remains active.
