Seaside Park, NJ – Wands were nowhere to be found, but Harry Potter fans still had plenty to celebrate Thursday night as Daniel Radcliffe arrived in Seaside Park to film scenes for his upcoming movie, Trust The Man.
The production transformed parts of the borough into a Vietnam War-era setting, with filming centered around the Charlroy Motel and nearby locations. Residents quickly took to social media to share photos and videos after spotting Radcliffe and co-star Jonathan Groff around town.
Overnight filming draws crowds
According to Seaside Park Police Lt. Andrew Casole, filming took place at the Charlroy Motel and surrounding areas. Social media posts from residents indicated production continued late Thursday into the early hours of Friday, with additional scenes reportedly filmed at the Sawmill and along the beach.
Fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the former Hogwarts star gathered throughout the evening. One social media commenter estimated that about 200 people lined up outside the Sawmill in hopes of getting Radcliffe’s autograph.
New thriller filming across New Jersey
Trust The Man is set during the Vietnam War and stars Radcliffe as an intelligence officer investigating the past of a decorated soldier. Jonathan Groff, the Tony and Grammy Award-winning actor known for Hamilton, Frozen, and Mindhunter, also stars in the film.
The production has been filming at multiple locations across New Jersey in recent weeks, including Montclair, before making its way to the Jersey Shore.
While Radcliffe may always be Harry Potter to millions of fans, his latest visit to Seaside Park brought a different kind of movie magic to the barrier island, with curious onlookers getting a rare chance to watch a major Hollywood production unfold in their hometown.
