Police investigate fatal single-vehicle crash on Sumter Drive
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A 76-year-old Virginia Beach man has died after his vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree on Sumter Drive, according to police.
The crash occurred at about 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 2900 block of Sumter Drive.
Virginia Beach Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and found Terry Berglund, 76, of Virginia Beach, suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Berglund was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
A preliminary investigation determined Berglund’s vehicle left the roadway before striking a tree.
The Virginia Beach Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
