Police identify 29-year-old victim while searching for the shooter
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 29-year-old man has died after a broad daylight shooting in Northwest DC left two men wounded, prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Police identified the victim as Keyon Malik Maynor, 29, of Northwest DC.
According to investigators, officers responded at about 2:14 p.m. Wednesday to the 1300 block of 5th Street NW for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found two adult men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while Maynor was critically wounded.
DC Fire and EMS transported both victims to a local hospital.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Maynor died from his injuries at the hospital.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the shooting as a homicide.
