Witness spots black-clad men fleeing Pelham Road home before three suspects are detained
EVESHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ – A daytime burglary on Pelham Road turned into a search through a wooded neighborhood Monday after witnesses reported men dressed in black fleeing a home and abandoning their getaway vehicle, with police ultimately detaining an 18-year-old Philadelphia man and two juveniles.
The investigation began at approximately 2:44 p.m. Aug. 17 when Evesham Township Police responded to a reported residential burglary on Pelham Road.
Witness spots suspects running from home
A witness told police that two males dressed entirely in black were seen running from a Pelham Road residence.
The pair entered a dark-colored sedan that sped north toward Willowbend Road, according to police.
While officers were responding, another report came in that three males had gotten out of the vehicle and were running through woods in the Dominions neighborhood.
Officers established a perimeter and began searching the area.
Three emerge from woods and enter another vehicle
Police said officers eventually located the three males after they emerged from the wooded area and entered another vehicle.
Officers stopped that vehicle and detained all three.
Police identified the adult suspect as Shaileek Street-Coaxum, 18, of Philadelphia.
Street-Coaxum was charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit burglary involving a home invasion, third-degree theft and obstruction, a disorderly persons offense.
Police said he also had an outstanding warrant and was committed to the Burlington County Jail pending further court proceedings.
Two juveniles released to guardians
Two juveniles were also detained during the investigation and later released to their guardians.
Juvenile charges are pending, police said.
The investigation remains active.
