COLUMBUS, OHIO – A 19-year-old murder suspect has been arrested in connection with the July shooting death of Maliek Venson on Hamilton Avenue, the Columbus Division of Police announced Tuesday.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Danyo Sellers, 19, with murder during their investigation into Venson’s death. Columbus Police SWAT arrested Sellers without incident Monday, Aug. 31, according to the department.
Venson was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound after officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Hamilton Avenue at 3:29 a.m. July 23 for a report of shots fired. He was pronounced dead at 3:43 a.m.

Murder Warrant Issued After Hamilton Avenue Shooting
Officers responding to the shots-fired call found Venson suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Columbus police. He was unresponsive when officers arrived and was pronounced dead about 14 minutes after the initial dispatch.
Homicide detectives continued investigating the shooting and ultimately obtained an arrest warrant for Sellers on a murder charge.
Police did not provide additional information about what allegedly led to the shooting or whether Sellers and Venson knew each other.
Columbus Police SWAT Makes Arrest
More than a month after the homicide, Columbus Police SWAT located and arrested Sellers on Aug. 31.
The department said Sellers was taken into custody “without incident.” Police did not provide additional details about where the arrest occurred.
The murder charge against Sellers is an allegation. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
