BALTIMORE, Md. – A 39-year-old Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Adrian Griffin, police announced Sunday.
Paul Gant was wanted in connection with Griffin’s Aug. 20 shooting in the 3400 block of Garrison Boulevard. Baltimore Police said members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force tracked Gant down Sept. 4 in the 100 block of South Charles Street.

Officers Initially Responded for Man Lying in Street
The investigation began at approximately 7:42 p.m. Aug. 20 when officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Garrison Boulevard for what police initially described as a “lying-in-the-street investigation.”
When officers arrived, they found Griffin suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.
He was rushed to an area hospital but later died.
Homicide detectives took over the investigation and began seeking information from the public.
Police have not disclosed what investigators believe led to the shooting or whether Gant and Griffin knew each other.
Task Force Detectives Arrested Gant Two Weeks Later
Investigators eventually identified Gant as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to Baltimore Police.
On Sept. 4, Warrant Apprehension Task Force detectives located him in the 100 block of South Charles Street.
“Detectives have arrested 39-year-old Paul Gant from Baltimore,” the department said in announcing the arrest.
Gant was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where police said he was charged with first-degree murder.
The department’s announcement did not provide additional details about the evidence that led detectives to Gant.
The charge is an allegation, and Gant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Investigation Began With August Shooting
The arrest came about two weeks after Griffin was fatally wounded.
Baltimore Police originally appealed to the public for help as homicide detectives worked the case.
Authorities have not released additional information about a possible motive, the circumstances surrounding the shooting or whether a firearm has been recovered.
