WASHINGTON, DC – A 31-year-old Maryland man was found shot to death along Southern Avenue in Southeast DC Monday afternoon after officers were flagged down about a person lying in the area, launching a homicide investigation that remained open Tuesday.
Metropolitan Police Department officers were flagged down at approximately 3:45 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Southern Avenue SE for a report of a person down.
Officers found an adult man unconscious and not breathing with apparent gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim Tuesday as Reginald Lamont Dorsey, 31, of Waldorf, Maryland.
MPD has not released information about a suspect or possible motive. Police also did not disclose additional circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the homicide.
