California Wildfire Smoke Reaches New Jersey, What Does It Mean For You?

TOMS RIVER, NJ – All across the Jersey Shore today, a high atmosphere haze softened the intensity of the sun and created some strange skies over the area this evening.  That’s because the smoke from the California Wildfires has finally reached the Jersey Shore.  While some people reported they could smell the fire in the air, the bulk of the contaminants were in the higher elevation of the atmosphere and ground-level air quality remained healthy for people on the ground.  According to the EPA, lower atmosphere air quality has been affected by the Pacific region wildfires as far east as South Dakota.  EPA is forecasting good air quality for Wednesday as the air pollutants remain high in the atmosphere.  During the day, some areas around Philadelphia reported moderate air quality conditions.
