New jersey students will return 100% to the classroom in september

TRENTON, NJ – Remote learning is done as of the start of the 2021-22 school year, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said today. His executive order which permitted remote learning scenarios during the COVID-19 pandemic will expire and will not be renewed.

Summer school programs will not be impacted by this decision which takes effect when the 2021-22 school year starts.

“We’re facing a much different world than one year ago when we had to begin planning for this school year,” Murphy said. “We know much more about this virus and how it spreads. We have more on the ground experience in fighting it and we have a robust vaccination plan that reaches adolescents as young as 12.”

Murphy said over time, the age limit on vaccines is expected to decrease further.

All students will be required to have in-person school and no full-time remote learning options will be available. Unless the COVID-19 virus makes a comeback, Murphy said the plan will not change. Murphy did not say whether or not children will be required to wear face masks in school for a second straight year.
