ALLENTOWN, PA – Police responded to a potential shooting threat at the Louis E. Dieruff High School in Allentown on Thursday. Out of caution, the school was placed on lockdown at approximately 10 a.m. while detectives investigated the threats of potential violence.

During the investigation, police received multiple tips regarding threats via the Department’s Safe2Say program. Each claim was thoroughly investigated but found to be unsubstantiated.

Students were eventually released from lockdown, but police maintained a visible presence on site and said they were remaining in contact with school officials regarding the bogus threats.

Students were dismissed at 11 a.m after District officials and law enforcement decided it was the best course of action.
