New York legislators push for ingredient labels on diapers

A law introduced by legislators in New York is calling for diaper manufacturers to begin listing ingredients on boxes of diapers sold in the state.

According to bill A00034A, manufacturers would be required to print an ingredient label on their products, or they could face fines up to $1,000.

“Requires a plain and conspicuous printed list of all ingredients with percentages of the components of diapers sold in the state; imposes a civil penalty of one percent of the manufacturer’s total annual in-state sales not to exceed one thousand dollars per package or box shall be imposed on the manufacturer,” the proposed bill reads.

On Tuesday, the bill was sent to the consumer affairs and protection committee.
