SOUTH RIVER, NJ – Over the past several weeks, the South River Police Department has issued 248 warnings to vehicles found parked against the flow of traffic, following multiple complaints from residents.

The department has taken this action due to the safety risk posed by these vehicles, which can be hazardous when entering or exiting the flow of traffic.

It may also pose a danger to pedestrians.

In accordance with New Jersey statute (39:4-135), vehicles must be parked on the side of the roadway in the direction of traffic. Moving forward, vehicles found to be in violation of this statute are subject to being issued summonses.

The department has urged all vehicle owners to follow this safety regulation to prevent any potential accidents and to ensure the safety of all community members.

Residents are advised to park their vehicles in compliance with the law, facing in the direction of traffic.
