Secaucus Man Arrested Following Seven-Hour Standoff

SECAUCUS, NJ – A 29-year-old man was arrested after a seven-hour standoff with the Secaucus Police Department on Saturday. The department responded to a 9-1-1 call from a resident of The Harper at 100 Park Plaza Drive, reporting concerning behavior from her fiancée.

Upon their arrival, police officers were denied entry into the apartment, and threats were made against them. The Hudson County Regional SWAT Team was activated, and numerous attempts to negotiate with the man failed. He was taken into custody at 2:18 A.M. and charged with Terroristic Threats. Further investigation revealed the man had killed his Australian Shepherd during the standoff.

The man, who remains unnamed due to the nature of the incident, has been taken to the Jersey City Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. The incident is still under investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
