PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Police Department has arrested Kimbrady Carriker, 40, from the 5600 block of Belmar Terrace, in connection with a mass shooting incident that occurred on Monday, at around 8:28 PM on the 1600 block of S. 56th St.
Officers arrived on the scene in response to reports of a person with a gun and shooting. Six victims were found at the location and transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where four were pronounced dead. Two victims, along with two others injured from shattered glass, were listed in stable condition. Early Tuesday, a fifth shooting victim was discovered at a nearby location and pronounced dead.
Charges filed against Carriker on Wednesday include multiple counts of murder and aggravated assault, among others.
His rampage claimed the lives of five individuals, including a 15-year-old boy, Daujan Brown, a 20-year-old man, Lashyd Merritt, a 29-year-old man, Dymir Stanton, a 59-year-old man, Ralph Moralis, and a 31-year-old man, Joseph Wamah Jr.
Authorities discovered Wamah’s body in a residence early Tuesday, while the remaining victims were found on Monday night.
The incident also left two young boys, aged 2 and 13, injured with gunshot wounds to their legs. Thankfully, they are in stable condition and receiving medical care. Additionally, a 33-year-old woman and another 2-year-old boy sustained injuries from shattered glass during the shooting, according to authorities.
During a news conference on Tuesday, officials revealed that the two 2-year-old children are twins who were in a vehicle with their mother when the assailants opened fire on them.
