The announcement was made by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella on Thursday, following an 8-week jury trial before the Honorable Christopher Kazlau, J.S.C., in Bergen County Superior Court.
Tung was found guilty of charges including murder, aggravated arson, desecration of human remains, hindering apprehension, tampering with evidence, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and stalking.
Tung was convicted of murdering and executing Robert Cantor, who was dating Tung’s soon-to-be ex-wife.
The jury was presented with evidence that Tung travelled from his home in New York City to Teaneck, NJ, between approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 5, 2011, and 1:00 a.m. on March 6, 2011.
It was during these hours that Tung entered Cantor’s home, led him to the basement bedroom, shot him in the back of the head with a .380 caliber handgun, and then set Cantor’s body, the bed, bedroom and house on fire before fleeing the scene.
