22-Year-Old Man Killed in Single-Car Collision in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND – A fatal collision claimed the life of 22-year-old Josue Abisai Melendez of Hyattsville early on September 1, when his vehicle struck a tree off East West Highway in Silver Spring.

At around 1:11 a.m., officers from the 3rd District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of East West Highway and Washington Avenue.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Melendez, driving a blue Honda Civic, veered off the road for undetermined reasons and collided with a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating this incident. They are asking anyone with information related to the collision to contact them at (240) 773-6620.
