HARTFORD, CT – Kenoy Stewart, a 27-year-old resident of Bridgeport, was sentenced today to nine months in prison for defrauding Amazon.com, Inc. through a complex scheme involving multiple vendor accounts and fabricated documents.
U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson issued the sentence, which also includes three years of supervised release. Stewart was ordered to pay full restitution for the $1,063,762.82 he defrauded from Amazon.
Stewart created multiple vendor accounts on Amazon’s platform, often using false identities. He falsely represented to Amazon that he was shipping valuable merchandise for sale, later claiming these shipments had been lost. Amazon, deceived by the fabricated documents supporting these claims, sent Stewart a series of refunds.
Stewart pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud on February 10, 2022, and is required to report to prison on October 30. He was released on a $50,000 bond.
Two other individuals, Oshane Stewart and Rajhni Yankana, were also implicated in the scheme. Oshane Stewart, Kenoy Stewart’s brother, was sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment on September 5 for defrauding Amazon of $742,000. Rajhni Yankana was sentenced to five months in prison and five months of home detention on September 27 for defrauding Amazon of $210,000.
