CASPER, WY – Lorna Roxanne Green, 22, was sentenced to 60 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for committing arson at the Wellspring Health Access Clinic in Casper. U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson handed down the sentence on September 28.
According to court documents, Casper Police responded to reports of suspicious activity at the clinic on May 25, 2022. Officers found smoke emanating from the east side of the building. The Casper Fire Department was dispatched and extinguished the fire. Investigators used witness accounts and video surveillance to identify Green, who broke a window to gain entry, poured gasoline inside the facility, and left just before the report of suspicious activity.
Green was arrested on March 21, 2023, by the Casper Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). She admitted to setting fire to the clinic, which was under construction and intended to offer OB/GYN services, gender-affirming care, and abortion procedures.
U.S. Attorney Nicholas Vassallo stated, “The use of violence and property destruction to advance individual opinions or objectives is never acceptable. The sentence imposed today reflects the gravity of this reckless and serious crime, which endangered the community and caused significant financial harm.”
FBI Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek and ATF Special Agent in Charge Brent Beavers also commented on the sentence, highlighting their agencies’ roles in the investigation and their commitment to pursuing crimes of this nature.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI, ATF, and the Casper Police Department.
