JACKSON – The New Jersey State Forest Fire Service will conduct prescribed burns in Jackson and other parts of Ocean County on Feb. 27-28.
The seasonal program of prescribed or controlled burns help reduce forest fire risks before the start of the wildfire season. Many of the burns will be on state-owned property, including forests and wildlife management areas.
In Ocean County, the areas include Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area in Jackson, Greenwood Wildlife Management Area in Barnegat and Lacey, Warren Grove Gunnery Range in Stafford and Whiting Wildlife Management area in Manchester.
