Baldwin Man Found Guilty in 2019 Fatal Hit-and-Run

by Adam Devine

MINEOLA, NY – Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly reported that a jury has convicted Joshua Roston, a resident of Baldwin, for the 2019 hit-and-run incident which resulted in the death of gas station worker, Cemal ‘John’ Dagdeviren.

Roston, 38, was found guilty of several charges, including Murder in the Second Degree, and is set to be sentenced on December 8.

The charges stem from an incident on January 14, 2019, when Roston visited the Pit Stop gas station on Grand Avenue in North Baldwin.

After refueling, instead of paying, Roston ran over Dagdeviren with his GMC Yukon, causing fatal injuries. He then fled New York State and was arrested in Pennsylvania days later.

In addition to this incident, Roston was also convicted for stealing gasoline from two other Nassau County gas stations in 2018.
