Haddon Heights Edges Out Oakcrest in South, Group 2 Opener

OAKCREST, NJ — In a closely contested South, Group 2 playoff game, Haddon Heights narrowly defeated Oakcrest 14-12 on Friday evening, marking its eighth win of the season.

Both teams went scoreless in the first half. The action picked up in the third quarter when Oakcrest’s Nasir Mahmoud caught a 44-yard pass from Andrew Estrada, although the kick failed. Haddon Heights responded with a 7-yard run by Andrew Harris, who also successfully executed the following kick, making the score 7-6.

In the fourth quarter, Harris connected with Damier Outterbridge-Ali for a 32-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 14-6. Oakcrest made a final attempt to catch up with a 3-yard run by Estrada, but the subsequent pass for a two-point conversion failed.
