ELMHURST, NY — A 47-year-old woman was the target of an attempted robbery on the R-train platform at Elmhurst Avenue and Broadway station, police report. The incident occurred on Sunday, November 5, 2023, just after 11:10 AM.
The assailant, described as an unknown male, accosted the woman, pushing her to the ground in an effort to snatch her purse. A quick-acting bystander intervened, pushing the attacker away and preventing the robbery. The suspect subsequently fled the scene without taking any belongings.
The woman, although shaken, did not sustain any injuries. The NYPD is investigating the event and seeking information on the suspect’s whereabouts.
