Newark Police Keeping Eye Out for Fugitive Stabbing Suspect

NEWARK, NJ — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has issued a public appeal for assistance in locating Freddie Willis, 49, of Newark, wanted in connection with a stabbing incident on November 14, 2023.

The event unfolded around 5 p.m. at Quitman Street and West Kinney Street, where the victim was reportedly stabbed by Willis following a verbal altercation. The victim received treatment at a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Detectives investigating the case have obtained an arrest warrant for Willis, described as 5’8” to 5’10” tall, weighing between 200 to 250 pounds, with a medium brown complexion and gray hair. He faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
