Cumberland regional high school students join cc rocks! Initiative

Cumberland County, NJ – On November 15,, seven students from Cumberland Regional High School’s Colt Connection School Based Youth Program participated in the CC Rocks! initiative. This program aims to foster social-emotional learning and community pride among youth in Cumberland County.

The CC Rocks! initiative encourages young people to express their creativity and appreciation for their community by painting rocks. These rocks, adorned with scenes, hobbies, people, or other ‘gems’ of the community, are displayed in various public spaces such as schools, police departments, and rock gardens. The initiative not only highlights the positives of Cumberland County, including its nature, sports, experiences, and open spaces, but also promotes a sense of belonging and responsibility towards the community.

Participants in the initiative, and others in the community, are encouraged to exchange painted rocks, spreading messages of kindness and well-being. This interactive aspect of the program aims to strengthen community bonds and instill a sense of pride in residents of all ages.

Kristina Varela, Trauma Support Specialist, is the contact for groups interested in joining the CC Rocks! initiative. Individuals who want to contribute can paint a rock, share a picture of it with Kristina, and post it on social media using the hashtag #CCROCKS. This campaign will feature various painted rocks to showcase the community’s creativity and spirit.
