BUFFALO, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced the sentencing of 44-year-old Alexander J. Wright of Buffalo.

On Monday, Wright received a probation sentence of three years from State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens.

The case began on Saturday, July 8, when Buffalo Police officers stopped Wright near Sherman Street on William Street at approximately 1:36 a.m. Officers observed Wright’s vehicle failing to maintain its lane and operating without headlights.

During the stop, Wright was seen moving what appeared to be a handgun from the front passenger floorboard to the center console. This action prompted the officers to search the vehicle, leading to the discovery of a loaded, illegal handgun in the console.

Wright subsequently pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class “A” misdemeanor, on October 4. His sentence reflects the outcome of this plea.
