KENT, OH – Yesterday at 10:30 a.m., Kent Police Department officers intervened in a critical situation on Arch Street and N. Adolph Street, successfully preventing a man from harming himself.

Responding to a call about a distressed adult male, officers found him in his car, parked in the middle of the street. Efforts to de-escalate the situation began immediately. The situation escalated when the man suddenly reversed his vehicle and fled. He then abandoned his car and ran towards Route 8.

In a dramatic turn, the man attempted to climb over a railing. A quick-acting officer caught him just as he was letting go. Displaying remarkable strength, the officer held onto the 24-year-old until backup arrived, helping to pull the man to safety.
