Hunterdon County, NJ – Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson and Raritan Township Police Chief Alfred Payne have announced the arrest of 45-year-old Domonique Preston from Raritan Township, New Jersey, on charges related to a fatal stabbing. The arrest took place today following a 9-1-1 call reporting a stabbing at a residence on Manchester Road in Raritan Township.
Upon arrival at the scene around 1:40 AM, police officers discovered 66-year-old Steven Spivey deceased from an apparent stab wound. Preston, who resided in the home where the incident occurred, was taken into custody at the scene.
Charged with first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, Preston is currently held at the Warren County Correctional Center. Her first court appearance is scheduled for February 21, 2024. The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion to detain Preston pre-trial.
The collaborative effort between the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Raritan Township Police Department has been commended by Prosecutor Robeson and Chief Payne for their swift response and apprehension of the suspect. The case against Preston includes severe charges, with the first-degree murder charge carrying a potential mandatory state prison term between 30 years and life imprisonment.
