LANHAM, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has announced the arrest of 50-year-old Kevin Derr from Alexandria, VA, in connection to a deadly domestic-related stabbing incident in Lanham. Derr is accused of murdering 47-year-old Wendolyn McKoy, with whom he previously shared a relationship.

The incident occurred on April 9, 2024, around 11:00 am, when police were called to a residence in the 5600 block of Lanteen Street due to reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered McKoy inside her home with multiple stab wounds. Despite being quickly transported to the hospital, she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Investigations suggest that an argument between Derr and McKoy escalated, leading to the fatal stabbing. Derr fled the scene immediately after the incident but was apprehended by the PGPD’s Fugitive Unit in Washington, D.C., a few hours later. He is currently awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County, where he faces charges of first and second degree murder, among other related charges.
