A teacher at Marlboro Memorial Middle School in Marlboro Township, NJ, has been charged with a disorderly persons offense following allegations of assaulting a student in the hallway.
Jenna Sciabica, aged 38, was charged on Friday, April 19, with harassment-offensive touching, a petty disorderly persons offense, in relation to an incident that took place on March 13.
According to reports, Sciabica touched the student over her clothing, which was witnessed by another staff member who then reported the incident to administrators.
The incident had been a subject of public attention after the student’s mother confronted the Board of Education at a meeting. The aftermath of the confrontation included two days of bomb threats that led to school closures. Superintendent Michael Ballone emphasized the safety and well-being of students as top priorities and assured that appropriate actions were taken promptly, including the immediate removal of the staff member from her position.
