Chicago Police Officer Fatally Shot After Shift

Chicago, IL – Chicago Police Department Officer Luis Huesca was shot and killed early Sunday morning, April 14, after his shift.

Officer Huesca had just finished his shift in the city’s 5th District and was driving his personal vehicle home. Huesca was still wearing his uniform at the time. Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to a gunshot detection alert in the Gage Park neighborhood and discovered Huesca lying in the middle of the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The officer had been carjacked, and both his SUV and his service weapon were stolen. Huesca was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
