VIRGINIA BEACH, VA—Virginia Beach Police, in collaboration with the United States Postal Service and the Hampton Police Department, have successfully apprehended a suspect for the armed robbery of a postal worker that took place on July 11, in the 3400 block of Dandelion Crescent.
The suspect, identified as Cameron Hunter Brown, 27, from Portsmouth, allegedly confronted the postal worker with a firearm and committed the robbery.
Utilizing advanced Flock license plate reader technology and security camera footage, detectives were able to track down the suspect’s vehicle in Hampton, leading to Brown’s arrest on July 17.
Brown faced multiple charges including Felony Evade & Elude, and illegal firearm possession. Further charges specific to the robbery in Virginia Beach were filed on July 31, including Robbery, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Felony Wearing a Mask in Public.
He was served with these warrants on August 7 while already detained at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
Police Chief Paul Neudigate highlighted the crucial role of technological tools in the investigation, stating that such technologies are instrumental in enhancing law enforcement capabilities to address violent crimes effectively and ensure community safety.
