BERKELEY TOWNSHIP-Berkeley Township is home to one of Ocean County’s largest senior citizen populations and with that, also home to many veterans who served the United States of America during World War II and Korea.

On Monday, Mayor Carman Amato and Councilman Bacchione attended the annual Silver Ridge Park Westerly Memorial VFW Post  8352 Veterans Day Commemoration.

Over 200 residents attended the Veterans Day ceremony, which was in honor of America’s veterans.

“It is truly an honor to be here today as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and as we salute and thank our veterans for their service to our Country.” Mayor Amato said. “I am proud to be here with some of the greatest generations. You have paved the way for future generations. I am a grateful American for your service and sacrifice.” Mayor Amato said.

With its senior population, Berkeley Township is also home to three local VFW Posts and is home to one of the largest populations of veterans in the entire state of New Jersey.

Councilman Bacchione said “I also thank each and every one of you for your dedicated service to our country. We will never forget those who served our country.”
