BRIDGETON, N.J.— Authorities are searching for a 36-year-old Philadelphia man charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old local resident Tuesday night.

Bridgeton police responded to a residence on South Avenue around 9:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a break-in. Officers arrived to find Elliot Q. Handy, the resident, suffering from stab wounds to his torso. He was transported to Inspira Regional Medical Center in Vineland, where he later died.

Investigators identified the suspect as Kenneth D. Tripline of Philadelphia. According to police, Tripline fled the scene, and detectives from the Bridgeton Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office later filed murder and weapons charges against him. Authorities have warned that Tripline is armed and dangerous.

Chief of Police Michael Gaimari stated that the incident appears to have been isolated and that the suspect and victim were known to each other. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
