ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Annapolis Police Department responded to three separate theft incidents on October 31 and November 1, highlighting a range of thefts across the city.
On October 31, officers were dispatched around 6:25 p.m. to the unit block of Old Solomons Island Road after a man reported his license plate stolen. The victim said he discovered the rear tag of his 2008 Ford E150, Maryland plate #32V548, was missing while he was near Bay Ridge Avenue. Police entered the missing plate into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.
In a separate incident on the same day, police were called to the Giant grocery store at 948 Bay Ridge Avenue around 5:40 p.m. in response to a shoplifting report. According to store staff, an elderly woman, described as white and dressed in a purple top and pants, took a large quantity of salt and meat products before leaving in a red Toyota Prius with Virginia plates #TRR6722. Another elderly woman, wearing a blue shirt, was also seen entering the vehicle before it left the scene. The total value of the stolen items was reported at $93.94.
Early on November 1, officers responded to an auto theft in the unit block of Greystone Court. The victim reported his 2013 Suzuki GZR-R750 motorcycle, bearing Virginia plate #W84730, was stolen from in front of his residence. He told police he had the only set of keys with him at the time of the theft. Officers found the motorcycle’s broken ignition lock in the parking lot. The vehicle was valued at approximately $8,000.
In addition, the Annapolis Police Department is currently conducting its annual food drive to provide Thanksgiving meals to local families in need. They are seeking donations of potatoes, onions, gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, and other pantry items. Donations can be dropped off at 199 Taylor Avenue by November 18.
