Armed carjacking incident triggers manhunt in southeast d. C.

Washington, D.C. – A search is underway for a suspect involved in an armed carjacking incident in Southeast Washington. The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 10, at around 7:35 p.m. in the 1400 block of Cedar Street.

A victim reported that while he was on his motor-driven scooter, two suspects approached him, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The armed suspect demanded the victim to dismount the scooter, after which one suspect took off on the scooter while the other fled in a black car.

Surveillance cameras in the vicinity captured images of one of the suspects. The police have released these photos, seeking help from the community to identify the individual.

The MPD encourages anyone with information about this crime to contact them at (202) 727-9099 or via the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in this violent crime.
