Arrest Made After Social Media Music Shoot Turns Into Robbery

August 28, 2024

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Two men were arrested following an armed robbery on Saturday, August 24, 2024, after a videographer was lured to a location under the pretense of filming a music video, only to be robbed at knifepoint.

The New Rochelle Police Department responded to a report of a knife-point robbery at 45 May Street at approximately 10:38 p.m. The victim, a 23-year-old videographer, had been contacted via Instagram to film a music video at the location.

Upon arrival, he was confronted by two Black males and one Hispanic male, who turned out to be the perpetrators of the robbery.

After the victim set up his equipment, the suspects threatened him with a knife and demanded his video gear, including two video cameras, a camera lens, and other videography equipment valued at $5,700.

The suspects fled the scene with the stolen items, and the victim attempted to pursue them but was unable to catch up. He then called the New Rochelle Police for assistance.

Responding officers quickly obtained descriptions of the suspects and broadcasted the information over the police radio. A New Rochelle officer soon spotted two of the suspects nearby and detained them.

The victim later identified Lonell Alexander and Kyle Miller as two of the three individuals who robbed him. In addition to the stolen video equipment, Alexander and Miller were found in possession of multiple knives, brass knuckles, and a BB gun.

New Rochelle Detectives are continuing to investigate the crime and are actively searching for the third suspect involved in the robbery. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to this incident to contact the New Rochelle Police Department at 914-654-2270.
