NEW YORK, NY—Two men were arrested late Thursday in connection with a violent shooting earlier this month in New York City’s 9th Precinct. The incident, which occurred on July 12 at the intersection of East 7th Street and Avenue A, resulted in one fatality and one injury.

Angel Sardina and Rafael Macias, both 63, were taken into custody at 10:50 PM Thursday. Sardina, residing at 66 Pike Street, and Macias, from 3560 Webster Avenue in the Bronx, face charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder.

The shooting, reported at about 9:49 AM on July 12, led to emergency responses after multiple 911 calls. At the scene, police found a 74-year-old man shot in the back and a 44-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where the older victim was pronounced dead. The younger victim remains in stable condition.
