Atlantic City gaming revenue rises 5 percent in April led by online gambling surge

New Jersey’s gaming industry posted a 5% year-over-year increase in April revenue as online gambling continued to drive overall growth.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — New Jersey’s total gaming revenue rose to $536.6 million in April, a 5.0% increase over the same month last year, according to figures released Friday by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

The state’s nine casino hotels reported $211.0 million in traditional Casino Win, a 2.7% drop from the $216.8 million posted in April 2024. Year-to-date Casino Win totaled $855.4 million, down 2.0% compared to the same period last year.

Internet gaming continued its upward trajectory, with online casinos and their partners reporting $235.2 million in April, a 25.2% increase from April 2024. For the year to date, Internet Gaming Win reached $908.4 million, up 21.0% from $750.7 million during the same four-month period last year.

Sports wagering brought in $90.5 million in gross revenue last month, down 14.8% from $106.2 million in April 2024. Year-to-date revenue from sports betting fell to $357.6 million, reflecting a 17.6% decline from $434.2 million over the same period last year.

Online gaming offsets casino and sports betting declines

Despite declines in both in-person casino revenue and sports betting, the rise in Internet gaming helped push overall revenue higher. April’s $536.6 million total marked a $25.7 million increase over the same month last year.

Year-to-date total gaming revenue reached $2.12 billion through April, up 3.1% from $2.06 billion during the first four months of 2024. The state collected $59.8 million in total gross revenue taxes in April and $234.9 million so far this year.
