Atlantic City, NJ – Glen Graves, 33, of Atlantic City, has been sentenced to 18 years in New Jersey State Prison for first-degree kidnapping, second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight. The sentence, issued on Thursday, July 11, by the Honorable Bernard E. DeLury, Jr. P.J.Cr., includes an 85% period of parole ineligibility under the No Early Release Act.
Graves’s offenses began on December 27, 2022, when he forcibly entered an Atlantic City apartment armed with a handgun. He ransacked the apartment and then forced the resident at gunpoint to drive to a local bank. While in the backseat of the victim’s car, Graves compelled the victim to withdraw $600 from a drive-through ATM. He fled the scene shortly after police received a 911 call, discarding latex gloves and a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number.
Law enforcement identified Graves through surveillance video, witness statements, and a positive DNA match from the discarded gloves. Graves was also sentenced to concurrent prison terms for prior offenses, including firing a handgun at an occupied vehicle on August 5, 2022, and eluding police on December 4, 2022, in a stolen vehicle.
Graves was apprehended in the spring of 2024 after a coordinated effort by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Galloway Township Police Department. He will be subject to five years of intensive parole supervision upon his release.
