Atlantic City police arrest man found with loaded handgun

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A man was arrested Friday after Atlantic City police received multiple tips that he was carrying a handgun, authorities said.

On February 7 at 5:47 p.m., Officers Michael Regalbuto and Glen Robinson acted on information provided by Detective Christopher Dodson and an anonymous tip submitted through the department’s tip411 text service. The tips indicated that a man named Vladimir was armed near Sovereign and Atlantic Avenues.

The officers located Vladimir Baires-Hernandez, 21, at Sovereign and Arctic Avenues, where he was taken into custody. A search revealed he was in possession of a loaded handgun, police said.

Baires-Hernandez has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a defaced firearm, and possession of a large-capacity magazine. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
