STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — A man was killed in a suspected hit-and-run Saturday morning on Route 102, according to local authorities. The incident was reported by a motorist who called 911 at approximately 6:44 a.m. after spotting what appeared to be a person lying on the side of the road near the 4.1-mile marker.

Emergency responders, including Stockbridge Police and EMS, arrived to find an unresponsive male at the scene. Despite efforts to revive him, a paramedic from Lee Ambulance pronounced the victim dead shortly after arriving.

Initial evidence recovered at the scene, including parts from a car, suggests that the victim was riding an electric scooter when he was struck by a motor vehicle. The driver fled the scene after the collision, police said.

Multiple agencies responded to the investigation, including the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Cyber Crimes Unit. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is also involved in the investigation.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run is ongoing.
