BEEKMAN, NY — The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of 42-year-old Christopher Ortiz of Beekman, NY, following an armed burglary at the Pine Grove Motel on Route 55. The incident, which occurred around 6:40 PM on August 1, involved Ortiz allegedly forcibly entering a motel room armed with a knife.

The Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene following a report of the burglary in progress. Further investigations by the Sheriff’s Office Detectives led to the apprehension of Ortiz.

The authorities believe that the burglary was not a random act, though no injuries were reported during the incident.

Ortiz has been charged with first-degree burglary (felony), fourth-degree criminal mischief (misdemeanor), and second-degree menacing (misdemeanor).

Following his arrest and processing, Ortiz was arraigned before the Town of LaGrange Court and subsequently remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center without bail.

He is scheduled to appear before the Town of Beekman Court on August 6.
