Boston police replace stolen Christmas gifts for 25 families after break-in

December 27, 2024

BOSTON — After a break-in at the Great Hall in Codman Square Health Center left gifts for 25 low-income families stolen, Boston police officers and community members came together to restore holiday cheer just days before Christmas.

The theft occurred on December 20, devastating families who had been counting on the donated gifts to celebrate the holiday. Officers from District B-3, determined to salvage Christmas for the affected families, worked alongside the Mayor’s Office and the Toys for Tots program to replace the stolen presents.

On Saturday, officers loaded more than 40 large bags of toys from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) and delivered them to the community the following day. Police wagons brought the new gifts to families, spreading joy and relief in the aftermath of the theft.

“The generosity and quick action of our officers and community partners ensured that Christmas was saved for these families,” the Boston Police Department shared in a statement.

The heartwarming effort proved that the holiday spirit can prevail even in the face of adversity.
