Brick Mayor A Democrat NJEA Leader Says Murphy Wrong on Parental Lockout in Schools

BRICK, NJ – Mayor Lisa Crate has publicly denounced New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s education policy for barring parents from discussing specific issues concerning their children in public schools.

Mayor Crate, also the head of the Jackson Education Association, stated her concerns at a press conference. “The best way to ensure that educators can provide a healthy and productive environment for all of our students is to have open communication between parents and teachers,” she said. According to Crate, the policy diminishes this crucial interaction, preventing educators from discussing vital information with parents.

The mayor labeled the policy as an attack on parental rights. She maintains that parents should have access to information about their child’s mental, physical, and sexual health, and the current policy hinders this.

The policy focuses on issues of gender identity and transgender rights in educational environments. Crate contends that the new regulations disrupt the longstanding tradition of open dialogue between parents and educators, crucial for student success.

“Educators have worked for decades to open these doors of communication for the betterment of all of their students and this policy makes it impossible for them to continue to do so,” concluded Crate.
