BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A new political organization seeking to reshape community politics in Brick Township says its first public meeting drew a strong turnout as residents discussed the future of local government and preparations for the 2027 Township Council elections.
Team Brick, which describes itself as an independent Republican movement focused on local issues rather than party leadership, held its inaugural organizational meeting this week and said the gathering exceeded expectations.
The group’s emergence comes as Brick Township remains politically divided between competing Republican factions while Democrats continue to hold influence in county and state politics, creating an increasingly competitive landscape ahead of the next municipal election.

“Our goal is not to rush out names just to say we have candidates,” Team Brick said. “We want to build the right team and, just as importantly, make it clear what that team will stand for.”

Rather than immediately announcing candidates, Team Brick said it plans to unveil a policy platform later this year outlining its priorities before formally introducing its council slate.
The proposed “Brick First” platform is expected to address local taxes, government transparency, public safety, infrastructure, township services, responsible development and other quality-of-life issues.
The organization said residents should understand its policy positions before deciding whether to support its candidates.
“Residents should know what we plan to do, why we plan to do it and how those policies will make Brick a better place to live,” the group said.
Team Brick’s next public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Brick Diner, with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
