Brick township unveils first community mural at windward beach summerfest

Brick Township, NJ – Brick Township has unveiled its first community mural, celebrating local pride and artistic collaboration with the debut of the “Greetings From Windward Beach” installation during the township’s inaugural SummerFest at Windward Beach.

The mural is the first completed project of the Brick Township Community Canvas Committee, an initiative created by Mayor Lisa Crate to expand public art throughout the township.

Community collaboration brings mural to life

The mural was designed by lead artist Jude Harzer, a mural teacher at Brick Township High School and Brick Memorial High School. The project was completed under the leadership of Gabrielle Cetrulo Porter, executive director and founder of the Brick Township Arts Council, and Trisha Monto Autore, president of the Laurelton Arts Society, with the help of numerous community volunteers.

Township officials said the unveiling took slightly longer than expected but described the finished artwork as well worth the wait.

The mural now serves as a permanent feature at Windward Beach, welcoming visitors with a colorful tribute to one of Brick Township’s most popular waterfront destinations.

More public art planned

Officials thanked the artists, volunteers, and community members who donated their time and talent to complete the project.

The Community Canvas Committee said the Windward Beach mural is only the beginning, with additional public art projects planned as the initiative continues to expand throughout Brick Township.

The mural was officially unveiled during Brick Township’s first SummerFest at Windward Beach. Officials said additional community art projects will be announced in the future.
