Burglary Crew Indicted for String of Nassau County Break-Ins

July 24, 2024

Mineola, NY – Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced the indictment of three alleged members of a burglary crew operating in New York and New Jersey. The crew is accused of a series of break-ins in Nassau County communities between December 2023 and January 2024.

Jawaun Whitted, 22, Fazon Farrington, 19, and Raquil Hayes, 21, all of Newark, New Jersey, face multiple charges, including Burglary in the Second Degree, Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree, Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Whitted was arraigned and held on $250,000 cash bail, $500,000 bond, or $2.5 million partially secured bond. Farrington’s bail was continued at $1 million bond, and Hayes’ bail was continued at $100,000 bond.

DA Donnelly stated that the defendants targeted homes during the holiday season, stealing cash and luxury vehicles which were then stripped of GPS devices and resold. The crew allegedly attempted to burglarize over a dozen homes in communities including Lake Success, Woodmere, Valley Stream, Roslyn, Roslyn Heights, New Hyde Park, Lawrence, Syosset, Mineola, and Franklin Square.

The defendants are scheduled to appear in court on various dates in July and September 2024.

DA Donnelly emphasized the importance of securing homes and remaining vigilant to prevent such crimes. The Nassau County District Attorney’s office, in collaboration with the multi-jurisdictional Burglary & Stolen Car Task Force, continues to address and prosecute these criminal activities to ensure the safety and security of residents.
