CAMBRIDGE, Md. — A 47-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds and was airlifted to a Baltimore trauma center after Cambridge police found him bleeding in the roadway early Thursday morning, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old woman on attempted murder charges.
Cambridge Police Department officers responded around 3:37 a.m. Thursday to the 600 block of Douglas Street for a reported stabbing. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying in the roadway surrounded by a large amount of blood, according to police.
Officers immediately began emergency medical treatment, applying a tourniquet to the victim’s arm where one stab wound was located before using trauma kit supplies to treat three additional stab wounds until Dorchester County EMS arrived.
The victim was first transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge before Maryland State Police Aviation flew him to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
Blood Trail and Surveillance Footage Led Detectives to Suspect
Investigators said officers tracked a blood trail from the victim to the 700 block of Douglas Street, where they recovered a bloody knife in the roadway along with additional blood evidence.
Cambridge police detectives joined patrol officers at the scene and used surveillance footage from the area to identify the residence where the stabbing allegedly occurred.
Authorities then responded to the home and identified the suspect as 22-year-old Iy’Onaalee Dimond Best of Cambridge.
Police said Best was detained and taken to the Cambridge Police Department for questioning, where detectives say she admitted to stabbing the victim.
Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the residence and recovered additional evidence connected to the attack.

The victim remained in stable condition following emergency treatment and transport to the Baltimore trauma center, according to police.
Best was arrested and transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where she is being held without bond.
She faces multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and dangerous weapon with intent to injure.
Police have not released additional details about the relationship between the victim and suspect or what led to the stabbing.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue processing evidence gathered from the residence and surrounding area.
